FREE SUPPLEMENTAL EDUCATIONAL SERVICES

INTRODUCTION

If you receive free or reduced price lunch, your child may be eligible to receive free supplemental educational services (SES)-private tutoring services. If you choose to enroll your child, you’ll be able to select a program that best fits your child’s needs. We’re giving you this notice to help you understand how SES can help your child and what you must do to take advantage of it.

1. SES IS NEW – AND YOU GET TO CHOOSE

One of the most important features of SES is that the parents are the ones who will make choices for their children. You’ll be able to choose among different types of services, given by different providers at different locations. That way, you can decide what’s best for your child. But there’s no obligation to enroll your child in SES.

2. THE SES PROVIDERS

A list of providers that have been approved by the state to offer services to your child within this area, a description of each provider, including the services they offer, their qualifications, and their track records can be found at McGinnis School Main Office, at the Federal Office at 178 Barracks Street, Perth Amboy, NJ or at our website www.paps.net.

3. WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE EVERY CHILD

There are only a limited number of spaces in the SES program, so we may not be able to enroll every child whose parent applies. Until we hear from every parent whose child is eligible, we can’t guarantee that your child will get a space.

4. PRIORITY FOR LOWEST-ACHIEVING STUDENTS

In compliance with federal law, we will give first priority to the lowest-achieving students. The achievement level will be based on the student’s score on the statewide assessment program.

5. TRANSPORTATION TO YOUR CHOSEN PROVIDER

Our district does not include transportation to the provider.

6. APPLICATION DEADLINE

If you decide you want to enroll your child in the SES program and choose one of the providers, you must mail the attached form to us no later than January 19, 2007. Please mail the form to: Federal Office, 178 Barracks Street, Perth Amboy, NJ 08861. If we do not receive the form from you, postmarked on or before January 19, 2007, your child will not be able to participate.
