Since its beginning in 1985, the Red Ribbon has touched the lives of millions of people around the world. In response to the murder of DEA Agent Enrique Camarena, angered parents and youth in communities across the country began wearing Red Ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to raise awareness of the killing and destruction cause by drugs in America.
Each year has a new theme, which works to unify the campaign and broadcast a focus message. This year’s theme for 2019 was, “Send a Message, Stay Drug Free,” which we recognize through various activities during the week, including a district-wide poster contest. Several of our students participated in the contest along with some our district’s youngest future change makers!
