The application period for the high school's thematic academies is now closed.  Applicants will be notified of admissions decisions by April 1st, 2019.

Students in the Health Sciences Academy will get an introduction to the many careers in the health and medical industry. Foundational courses that are essential for study and employment in the health field will be offered. These courses prepare students for further study at 4-year and 2-year college programs, in addition to employment after High School. Students will have the option to take classes that earn college credits, in addition to the High School credits needed for graduation. Students will have the opportunity to receive a medical certification to add to their resume for obtaining employment or admittance to colleges to further their study.

All Academy courses will integrate medical and health applications into their core course requirements. In addition, students will have the opportunity to participate in authentic experiences in the medical and health field to further develop their resume.

The inaugural sophomore class of the Communications Academy is currently receiving instruction in their two required foundational courses: Introduction to Communications and Foundations of Production & Design. Students have participated in many different activities to prepare them for a college or career track in the area of communications. For example, students have begun their service learning hours by shadowing professionals in the field and completing real-life projects. Students have also participated in an interdisciplinary project about Propaganda, experienced hands on learning by designing Public Service Announcements and completing work on globalization. In the second year of the academy, students will take the skills and content knowledge they obtained and apply them in their chosen area of study, such as Journalism, Diplomacy, or Visual Design.
