Transition to Kindergarten Summer Program

Dates: July 7, 2025 - August 1, 2025

Location: Dr. Herbert N. Richardson Elementary School and Rose M. Lopez Elementary School for students in the Dual Language Program 

Times: 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM for Dr. Herbert N. Richardson and 8:00 AM - 11:30 AM for Rose M. Lopez 

Curriculum Focus: English Language Arts, Math, and Social Emotional Learning

The program is open to general education students, Bilingual, Dual Language, and students with disabilities not eligible to attend the Department of Special Services Extended School Year program.

Student Selection Criteria: Students who need support in the areas of English Language Arts, Math, and Social Emotional Learning based on district assessment data and staff recommendations.

Description:

The Transition to Kindergarten summer school program is for students enrolled in PreK-4 who are transitioning to Kindergarten in September 2025. The program will focus on early literacy and mathematics skills through the teaching of letter identification, letter-sound correspondence, sight words, identification of numbers, and counting up to at least 20. The curriculum will also be based on studies or themes to integrate all content areas. As part of the program, students are also provided with social-emotional learning experiences.

Students who are part of the Dual Language Program will attend the program at Rose M. Lopez Elementary School. Bilingual and all other students will attend the program at Dr. Herbert N. Richardson Elementary School. 

The program will service approximately 135 students.
