Philosophy Statement
“Tell me and I forget.
Show me and I will remember.
Make me do it and I learn.”
I believe that my purpose in life is to enlighten and enrich children’s lives. I teach fundamental concepts, encourage critical thinking, and help my students achieve life-long learning skills. My students are my top priority. They are able to clearly see the high expectations I have for them.
I believe that children should be active participants in the learning process. Children learn best by doing. This can be done by encouraging discovery with hands-on materials. I feel through my own knowledge, guidance, and understanding I can help shape a child so he/she will be able to succeed throughout life and not just the short time he/she is in my classroom.
Most importantly, I am aware that every child has his/her own talents and I am responsible for seeing that all their talents are recognized. I look forward to striving to be the best possible teacher I can be! It is definitely a challenge but the rewards are well worth it!
As a teacher I…
- Teach my students the skills they need to be successful in school and life.
- Encourage active learning through real experiences, discoveries, and play!
- Create a curriculum that introduces meaningful and fun projects to draw on children’s natural curiosities and interests.
- Have a strong appreciation of differences - gender, cultural, physical, religious, racial, and mental abilities.
- Encourage children to play independently as well as with others.
- Help develop children’s confidence and self-awareness.
- Encourage parental involvement. (This is crucial in a child’s life!)
- Provide a safe classroom where children can feel secure and share their ideas and solutions.
