-wash your hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds (count or sing the alphabet song), especialy after going to the bathroom, before cooking, before eating, after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing, diapering, helping another person in the bathroom, when you get home
-cover your coughs and sneezes with the inside of your elbow rather than your hand, and turn away from others as you cough and sneeze. We tell the kids to "catch" their coughs and sneezes in their arm.
-avoid touching your face including your eyes, nose and mouth
-if soap and water are not available, use an alcohol based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol
-avoid close contact with people who are sick
-clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a household spray or wipe (doorknobs, light switches, keyboards, telephones
