Welcome! My name is Ms. Mattei, I am an English Teacher at the Personalized Learning Program for the Perth Amboy Education Center. This is my 6th year teaching at this wonderful school. I have taught English I, II, and III along with Fundamentals of Reading, College Writing, Science Fiction, Young Adult Literature, and Test Skills. I graduated from Perth Amboy High School in 2008 and then attended Middlesex County College where I received my Associate’s Degree in General Education. I furthered my education by attending Kean University where I obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and English. Additionally,  I recently received my Master’s Degree in Bilingual Education at Kean University.

I am strong believer that literature can provide us with valuable life lessons and because of this I love to share my passion for both reading and writing with my students. Some of my all-time favorite works of literature are “The Harry Potter Series,” “Frankenstein,” “Dracula,” “The Great Gatsby,” and “Fahrenheit 451.” Furthermore, I believe that students learn best when provided with hands on assignments such as projects and groupwork that require them to be involved in the learning process.

In my spare time I enjoy reading, writing, traveling, listening to music, walking my dog, and drinking coffee.
