Ms. Angeline Duran

Bitmoji ImageWELCOME TO FIFTH GRADE!

Dear Families,

My name is Angeline Duran. It is a great joy to be teaching at Edward J Patten Elementary School this year! This is my second year teaching in the Perth Amboy School district. I was a teacher in Keansburg, NJ for two years. I taught Elementary and Early Childhood in New York City for over twenty-five years. The classroom is my happy place and I hope it is the same for my students. My heart finds contentment in reading, music, the arts, and family time. I have three adult children and three amazing grandchildren, all boys ages a year and a half, 4 and 7 years old.

I have created a Class Dojo to help us connect. It is a safe way for us to communicate and share all about the students throughout the week. Students have classwork and homework that must be completed daily as given. There are projects that the students will work on in their small groups as well as individually. These projects help them use technology, art, and their personal learning style to show what they have learned. I tell my students to come to me with any questions and never be afraid to ask for help, support, or for me to repeat anything. It is important for them to know I am here to help them.

I plan every lesson in a way to help all students. But, if they are struggling, I really need them to let me know, because I am more than happy to go over the lesson, the tasks and anything they need. As much as I want to provide for them, it is the help and support at home from families that is the greatest support and encouragement. We are a team to help your child succeed. I ask that you take time every day to check what your child brings home, check the Google Classroom for assignments and homework. Talk to them about their day.

You can reach out to me any time.

I look forward to a wonderful year! I believe students will flourish and bloom, each in their own special way and timing.

Thank you,
