Mr. Joseph LajewskiK-5 Music TeacherRoom 120 - "The Music Room"Kindergarten - Introduction to Music EducationMusic & Movement Activities"Sing-A-Longs"Learning basic rhythms on simple percussion instruments.First Grade - Learning basic melodies and rhythms to new songs.Introduction to musical notation (staff, notes, and rest).Introduction to learn how to read musical notation.Learning how to play selected rhythms on percussion instruments.Second Grade - Learning how to "compose" music using basic musical notation.Learning how to sing music as a choir.Encouraged to express opinions and feelings about how they feel when listening to certain types of music.Learning how to play selected rhythms on the classroom "Boomwhacker" rhythm instruments.Third Grade - Students are given access to their Quaver Music Accounts. Quaver is a district-approved Music Education format thatallows students to use their chromebooks during Music Class. They have an opportunity to demonstrate theirunderstanding of using musical notation to create their own musical pieces. Students will also have access to computerprograms such as Chrome Music Lab and Virtual Piano.Fourth Grade - Students will continue to have access to their Fourth Grade Quaver Music Accounts. They will be receiving theirrecorders (woodwind instrument similar to the flute). The students will have an opportunity to try the ukulele. They will have a chance to show off their musical talents by participating in our theme-based assemblies and our musical show in the Spring.Fifth Grade - Students will be able to demonstrate their knowledge of the four basic standards in Music Education.(Create, Perform, Respond, and Connect) They will continue to have access to their Quaver Music Accounts as well as thelearning aids in their Google Music Classroom. The students will be presented with opportunities which include tryinginstruments they might be able to play in Middle school. (Clarinet, Flute, Trumpet, etc.)Grades Third through Fifth - "Piano Partners" at AVC - February/March 2026Students will have the opportunity to learn basic piano technique in the Music Classroom.Looking forward to a wonderful year!Musically,Mr. Joseph Lajewski
