Welcome to 9th Grade Health and Physical Education! This page is your comprehensive resource for students and parents to get answers to any questions they may have about our course.
Course Overview:
In New Jersey, 9th Grade Health and Physical Education is a combined course that aims to give students the knowledge and skills they need for a lifetime of wellness. We focus on two main areas: physical fitness and health literacy. Our goal is to empower students to make informed decisions about their physical, social, and emotional well-being. This course is about much more than just sports and exercise; it's about developing the whole person. 🏃♀️🧠
Physical Education:
In the physical education part of the course, we'll cover a variety of activities, from team sports like basketball and volleyball to individual pursuits like weight training and fitness. Our focus is on skill development, strategic thinking, teamwork, and sportsmanship. We follow the New Jersey Student Learning Standards for Health and Physical Education (NJSLS-CHPE), which emphasize the importance of lifelong physical activity. We want students to find activities they enjoy and learn how to incorporate them into a healthy lifestyle.
Expectations and Grading:
Your grade is based on three main components: participation, effort, and skill application. We expect students to come prepared for class with the proper gym uniform and a positive, respectful attitude. We encourage everyone to try their best, be a good teammate, and ask questions when they need help. If you have any questions, please reach out—we're here to help you succeed!
Health Education:
