Flu Notice
The flu, as well as bronchitis and pneumonia, has hit New Jersey. Many staff, as well as students are getting sick. Symptoms are coughing, sneezing, sore throat, nausea, headache, vomiting and fever. If your child is complaining of these symptoms please DO NOT SEND THEM TO SCHOOL. Many students, upon arrival at school, go immediately to the nurse's office vomiting and with fevers.
These illnesses can last for more than a few days and often reoccur if a child re-enters school too soon. It is important to remember that sending a sick child to school places other children in their class at risk.
If your child is taken ill at school, we will call you immediately to contact the person you have designated on your emergency card. Under NO circumstances will a child be allowed to leave the building alone.
Please keep your emergency contact numbers current.
Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.
Tdap and Meningococcal Vaccine
In accordance to Chapter 14 Regulation 16 of the State Sanitary Code from the New Jersey Department of Health, as of December 2006, all children age 11 and entering the 6th grade are required to have the Tdap and Meningococcal vaccines by the first day of entering 6th grade in September.
If your child has complied with this new requirement, or is in the process of complying, it is your responsibility to provide this documentation of each vaccine received to the school as soon as possible.
Your prompt action is appreciated in this matter.
