Remote Learning Plan Title II Summer Program

Dates: July 6 - August 13, 2021

Time: 8:00 am - 1 pm

Curriculum Focus: ESL/Civics & Adult Basic Education

Program is only open to returning students.

The district will offer a remote Title II Adult Education and Literacy Summer program.  This program is designed for returning students.   The program is intended to develop literacy and adult basic education skills.  The target audience are Perth Amboy residents.  These educational offerings provide students a way to increase workplace readiness capacity.

Student performance is measured against state defined benchmarks by the NJDOE in both ESL and Adult Basic Education. Students are placed in classes based on their ability to perform literacy related tasks in content areas. The gains are measured using MSGs (Measurable Skills Gain) by assessing the student’s Educational Functioning Levels (EFLs). Students must receive approximately 40 to 60 hours of classroom instruction prior to post testing.  Summer school students carry over their accumulated hours from the regular school year.  All student performance data is inputted into LACES (Literacy Adult & Community Education System).  This is the platform the NJDOE uses to monitor the program’s performance.
