Extended School Year (ESY)

Duration: July 6-30, 2021

Times: 9:00 am - 11:30 am

Curriculum Focus: Goals and objectives established in each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

Student Selection Criteria: Students with disabilities are recommended for this program based on significant regression and an inability to recuperate skills in a reasonable amount of time as per the NJ Special Education Code 6A:14. ESY is a special education program outlined in IEPs.

 

Extended School Year (ESY) special education programs and services will be delivered remotely for two hours per day for 19 days, from 9:00-11:30 for students. Monday through Friday from July 6 - July 30, 2021. This program will service approximately 250 preschool through high school aged students with disabilities who qualify for ESY services as per their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).

Classroom teachers and paraprofessionals will support students by working with small groups and individual students using a blend of live, pre-recorded and District approved on-line learning platforms. Additionally, classroom teachers will prepare lesson plans and materials that meet the individual needs of each learner. The paraprofessionals will assist with material preparation and provide Spanish translation, as needed. Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy will also be provided in accordance with IEPs. Related services will continue to be delivered through telepractice and will follow the CST provisions noted above to the greatest extent possible.
