Females Leading the Way Representing Athletics in Our District
-
We had numerous student-athletes showcase their many talents within the landscape of a highly competitive Greater Middlesex Conference. However, the 2022 winter season was one for the ages when it came to reaching an elite status around the state of New Jersey.
Ahsia Torres, First Female NJSIAA State Champion!
Ahsia Torres, captured the 1st ever female NJSIAA state wrestling championship at Phillipsburg high school on Sunday, February 21, 2022. Ahsia Torres, a senior at our Perth Amboy high school, claimed a state championship with a decisive victory that came in the form of a pin to capture the win in the 107-pound final. Ahsia owned the evening as she pinned her opponents throughout the quarterfinals and the semifinals in a dominant fashion. Ahsia has now earned her keep in the Perth Amboy record books with our own Ferman Crisco, who was the only prior state champion wrestler in school history, which took place 30 years ago around this time.
Ziasia Glasco, First Female GMC Indoor Track Champion!
We have a new GMC Track Champion! Ziasia Glasco won the 55-meter dash on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at the GMC Indoor Championships at the Bennett Center. Ziasia, a junior, ran 7.48 which ties our existing school record. She will have an automatic berth on the All-Division GMC Team since she won the event outright. Ziasia is the first Indoor Champion that our girls' program has ever had since the inception of the GMC. She has also qualified for Indoor Nationals.
Congratulations to the entire Panther Athletic Family!
