Preschool Eligibility

Eligibility

The Perth Amboy Board of Education is committed to establishing and maintaining early childhood programs that are consistent with proven educational practices and that will ensure equitable treatment of all resident children.

Eligibility is limited to Perth Amboy residents only.

Three year olds
Any child whose third birthday falls on or before October 31 is eligible to enter the preschool program in September of the same year.

Four year olds
Any child whose fourth birthday falls on or before October 31 is eligible to enter the preschool program in September of the same year.

Selection
Preschool registration begins in February or March for the following school year. The district advertises for registration via school publications, local Channel 34, schools and local businesses, and through our district website. We work with families to ensure placement of all students. We will continue to take registrations until spaces fill up. Once classrooms are filled, registrants will be placed on a waiting list. We will maintain the list and as spaces become available (children leave the program), we will call the next child on the list.
