State Science Assessments

State standardized tests in science are administered in grades 5, 8 and 11. The test typically takes place in May.
NJSLA - Grade 11
Students are required to take the Grade 11 science test. It is a cumulative test that assesses all science content areas (life science, physical science, and earth and space science). This test takes place over 2 days. Level 1 and 2 bilingual students take the test in Spanish. Calculators use is allowed for the assessment. NJSLA - Grade 8
All 8th grade students take the NJSLA science test. This is a cumulative test that assesses student learning in grades 6-8. Some students will qualify to take this test in Spanish. Note that test results could be used for placement in future classes. Additional information about the test is provided at the below link.

All 5th grade students take the NJSLA science test. This is a cumulative test that assesses student learning in grades K-5. Some students will qualify to take this test in Spanish. Additional information about the test is provided at the below link.

START STRONG
All students in grade 6, 9 and 12 will participate in the Start Strong Assessment for Science in the fall of 2021.
