The PAHS Chapter of the NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

To be eligible for membership consideration and to meet the pillar of scholarship, students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.3. While NHS student membership is the true mark of academic achievement, it goes far beyond a report card. All student members must also reflect the program’s respective pillars to be inducted—ideals such as scholarship, service, leadership, and character—and they must continue demonstrating these pillars within their community throughout their membership.

Leadership is based on the student’s participation in two or more community or school activities, or election to an office or leadership position. To meet the pillar of service, students must be active in numerous service projects in the school and community. The pillar of character is measured in terms of integrity, morals, ethics, respect, and cooperation with both students and faculty. 

As members of the NHS, students engage in a number of individual and chapter service projects that focus on contributing to the positive climate of the school and community while also maintaining high standards in and outside the classroom.

Student applications for membership are reviewed by a Faculty Council consisting of members of the faculty approved by the principal. 

The National Honor Society is the nation’s oldest and best-known student recognition program and was founded in 1921 by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. It is an absolute honor and privilege to be a part of this organization and it is comprised of our most remarkable students.

National Honor Society Motto

Noblesse Oblige is a French phrase, literally meaning nobility obligates. In broader terms, it signifies that those of high rank have the obligation to behave honorably, generously, and responsibly towards others.
