Dr. Manuela Jimenez
Meet Dr. Manuela Jimenez, Ed.D.
Hello! My name is Dr. Manuela Jimenez, and I am proud to be an English Language Arts teacher for Grade 12 here in Perth Amboy—the very same community where I grew up and attended school from kindergarten through 12th grade. It is a true honor to now give back to the city that has shaped who I am today.
My love for learning started early, and my passion for books eventually led me to become both a teacher and a published author. I began my college journey at Middlesex College, earned my Bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University–New Brunswick, and went on to receive my Master’s degree from Montclair State University. I later completed my Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Rowan University. I also earned my K–12 English Language Arts certification through Rutgers School for Effective Teaching Practices. Altogether, I have been teaching high school English for over 15 years, including News Media Production and Advanced Placement Language and Composition.
I am proud to have co-founded Middlesex STEM Charter School in Perth Amboy in 2018, which serves as a sister school to my former employer's main campus. Prior to this, I worked at Central Jersey College Prep Charter School, where I spent nearly 10 years as both an educator and supervisor. This school was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon school for excellence in education in 2016. Being part of the founding team at Middlesex STEM Charter School was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. Middlesex STEM Charter School in Perth Amboy (2018), as a sister-school to our main campus, where I was employed prior to it becoming a National Blue Ribbon (2016) school for excellence in education, with my former employing team, Central Jersey College Prep Charter School, where I worked as both an educator and supervisor for nearly 10 years. Being part of that school’s beginning was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. I am now grateful for bringing my educational expertise and excellence to Perth Amboy Public Schools.
When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy volunteering and mentoring others in the community. I’m involved with organizations like Executive Women of New Jersey, Montclair State University's Women's Initiative Network, and Women Into Networking (WIN), where I help guide the next generation of women leaders. Giving back and inspiring others are very important to me.
Most of all, I want my students to know that I believe in them. I know how much talent and potential reside in this community because I once sat in the same seat. My goal is to help every student discover their voice, grow their confidence, and open doors to their future.
